Need Extra Time for Your TfL DVS Compliance?
Transport for London (TfL) has introduced a six-month grace period for compliance with the updated Direct Vision Standard (DVS) requirements, beginning on 28 October 2024 and ending at 23:59 on 4 May 2025. This extension allows operators additional time to install the necessary Progressive Safe System (PSS) equipment on their vehicles.
To qualify for the grace period, operators must provide proof of scheduled installation for the PSS equipment. This can include confirmation of bookings or proof of purchase, demonstrating that installation is arranged after 28 October but before the May deadline. Applications must be submitted individually for each vehicle, and vehicles with a zero, one, or two-star safety permit are eligible to apply.
The process isn’t automatic, so businesses must actively apply through their London Road User Charging account, ensuring all required documentation is included. While the grace period gives operators more time, the DVS requirements themselves will still take effect on 28 October 2024, and non-compliant vehicles will be fined after the grace period ends if they haven’t installed the necessary safety upgrades.
Proactive plan to secure a grace period for the TfL Direct Vision Standard (DVS) compliance.
1.Secure Your Date with a £200 Deposit:
You pay a £150 deposit to reserve your installation date for the Progressive Safe System (PSS) kit. This ensures that your vehicle will be upgraded before the grace period expires.
2. Booking Confirmation:
Once you pay the deposit, you’ll receive a confirmation of your booking, which can be used as evidence for your DVS grace period application.
3. Final Payment:
Complete the payment for the full PSS kit before the installation date to proceed with the work. If payment is delayed, JC Motors reserves the right to cancel the booking.
4. Grace Period Application:
You can apply for the grace period with the confirmation as proof that your installation is scheduled between 28 October 2024 and 4 May 2025.
Important Notes:
- The £200 deposit is non-refundable if you fail to complete the payment before the installation date.
- Ensure you meet all deadlines to avoid losing your booking and to remain eligible for the grace period.
This proactive approach helps ensure that you meet the new DVS requirements in time and can apply for the grace period to avoid penalties
